Smoke Grenades

So, effects wise, I've been looking at possibly using smoke grenades during a photo shoot outdoors using Enola Gaye smoke bombs. The WP40 looks interesting as well as the EG18X.

If anyone has ever used these, please post some photos of your results.

I will buy a couple myself and share my results.

Also, they come in different colors. I'm guessing the difference in colors would affect black and white processing. From what I've seen they come in army green, orange, white and yellow. I'm still researching these so they may come inore colors. I haven't seen them yet.

I have never used the smoke grenades before, but with white, you can always use a gelled flash to color them any color if you cant get what you want.

I use a generator and a smoke machine.

You have considered, I hope, risks as listed by Enola Gaye:

"

• Just like any pyrotechnic article EG pyrotechnics may cause a fire, consider the surfaces that the pyrotechnics will be used on or near, are they flammable e.g. dried grass, paper.
  
• Excessive inhalation of the smoke produced may cause respiratory irritation and difficulty breathing.
  
• Persons with existing complaints such as asthma and chest infections and other conditions which affect breathing, maybe adversely affected by over exposure to the smoke produced by these devices.
  
• we recommend that as a minimum Gloves and Eye protection are worn whilst handling and using them.

• You may want to consider contacting the emergency services immediately prior to the use of pyrotechnics and give them a time you will contact them again to give the all clear. It is important to give them the “all clear” or they might respond thinking there is a problem.

Are you processing b/w film?

Or digital into b/w?

As far as gels mentioned, that would only work if you could isolate the smoke from other important elements.

And as far as safety, as long as you are not a complete idiot, copious amounts of beer will mitigate short term effects. Glory of your success will mitigate most long term effects.

It is possible to over-do things.
