This strobe came up in conversation about inexpensive lights. I did not find a dedicated thread and figured I would start one.

I received mine yesterday and decided to see how it compared to a couple of other cheap lights I have.

Adorama sells this light as the Flashpoint Studio 400, Neewer brands it and of course Godox. It is your basic studio strobe with incandescent modeling lamp. The bonus part is that it has the godox X wireless built in.

Current pricing for this is $119.95 with the SK300II running $99. In other words, darn cheap for a studio light.

The cell phone pic below shows a size comparison to a Mettle 600AD (same as flashpoint 1220M) and an Alien Bee B400.

I did a quick power test at full power at 10'. The Mettle clocked in at f16, the SK at F11 and the B at 5.6. I will say that the B was an average. The thing bounced almost a full stop. Glad it was only borrowed for the test. The B is also the most expensive of the 3.

Also in case anyways spots it, the SK comes with a 6" reflector. I swapped the 7" over and tested with it as well. No change at 10ft.

Another user has promised to do a full video review, but I wanted to get the conversation started. Anyone else have these?

$120 for a 400Ws studio monolight that works in the X system for remote power and firing is a really good deal.

The fact that it puts out the light expected is almost a bonus. LoL
