Sony A77, 99, 77ii - Tamron 150-600mm V1 - Suggestions??

Thanks for reading. I own a 77 and a 99 and the Tamron Lens. When the birds are close enough I get excellent results with the Tamron on the 99. When the subject is further away I get mixed results with the 77. I'm considering the purchase of the 77ii having read reviews of it's improved focus system. The 99 does a wonderful job, but sometimes the added reach of the crop sensor is needed. Any advice or suggestions are appreciated from your experience.

If you've found a noticeable improvement switching from the 77 to the 77ii using this lens I would appreciate knowing.
