Wedding photogs list the warning signs.

My dad, after finishing packing up after shooting a wedding, on his way to his car, saw the groom smacking around the bride in the alley behind the venue. Yikes!

No print sales for that one.

Too bad the bride's father or brother didn't witness it. I know my daughter would be attending a funeral.

Another bad sign is when the bride is more interested in the wedding than in the marriage.

Its been said that the amt spent on the wedding is inversely proportional to the potential for success

Mine is currently working out to be around £90/year, so you may have a point.

Ha! Less than $5.00 per year. Only catch is you have to be married 50+ years and started out broke -?

I shot a wedding about 5 or 6 years ago that lasted under a year and cost the brides parents around £16-17000. So you're right, cost cost is no indication of longevity.

Hope not. We made money from our wedding and have been married 17 years so far. We might end up having to pay someone.

I shot a wedding years ago in which the "cake smash" turned into a free for all fight between the families of the groom and the bride.

That wedding did not survive the honeymoon. Luckily, the deposit covered my costs in film and processing.

My son and I are going to write a book about our couples. By the end of the day and meeting with them previous, we can be fairly accurate in judging whether the couple will make it past 5 years.

bannedPermanent ban

My wife's parents tried to control every aspect of our wedding and reception. She got tired of the endless venue and guest-list changes, and told them to FO&D. We paid for it ourselves; she did it her way. Small ceremony with family only in a local chapel in the woods. Reception was dinner (with cash bar, we don't drink), and go home. Coming up on 32-1/2 years doing it her way. Seems to be working.

Why to have a wedding if you think it is doomed?

The wedding photog doesn't get to make that call and they work for money, not marriage advice.

I did a string of weddings where all 4 made it less than a year. I was beginning to think it was me.
