Anyone made the switch to a mirrorless?

Electronic shutter is brilliant if/when you need it though - totally silent and 1/32000 max shutter speed!

May be a dumb question, but with the electronic shutter, does the sound it makes get faster and slower in relation to how fast your shutter speed is? That's the thing that seemed to throw me off I think when I tried it at the store. No matter what I shot or in what light, it seemed the electronic shutter sound was exactly the same.

I'll check later, but I'm pretty sure the sound stays the same regardless of the shutter speed. I always have my sound switched off for fully silent shooting when in electronic shutter mode so it's hard to remember.

It makes no sound at all. Dead silent.

The only sound is the mechanical slight click you hear from the shutter release being pressed.

Oh. Ew. I cringe if I hear "recordings" of old mechanical shutters on cellphones, cameras, etc. You don't hear the word tacky often with respect to photography equipment, but that recording is just that.

I defer to the experts of bad camera sound stuff!

Lol, I certainly agree for most applications. However, I will say that the fully silent shutter can be weird to shoot with too, the lack of any audio feedback at all can be really weird to shoot with. As I said before though, I haven't used the fake shutter sound in a long time.

0.5 second preview is your friend when shooting silent with the electronic shutter. By nice if we could record our own sounds for the shutter, Kla-lick-snuck.

I have the option if making my phone sound like a duck . Young kids think it hilarious

But otherwise I wouldnt use artificial sounds

I usually just say click when I press the button. I say cli,cli,cli,cli-click when I'm doing a rapid fire shot. I can vary the volume and delivery for any occasion. At weddings I try and be a bit more quiet as to not interfere. I should really make myself an app, I'd make out big time.

The e-shutter on my GH5 is dead silent but note that the bit depth is lower (12 vs 16 iirc). I like m43 for video which saves a lot of weight for the 2x fov and lots of vintage lens options. No viewfinder lag that I’ve noticed, which was a real problem with an earlier camera.
