Took this shot tonight

IMAGE: http://www.samiad.co.uk/gallery/photos/10D/SigmaStadium.jpg

There are quite a few angles to consider when shooting this stadium, and I struggled to decide on which to go for. Unfortunately most options involve cutting out sections of the tall angular struts that support the stadium. The cropped strut is an accepted weakness here, but preferable to moving back and including more of the surroundings in the shot (which added nothing to the view). I do wish I could have included the entire strut, but it might have ruined the shot.

I do have another shot of this, in a portrait orientation, which I will post when I'm done in photoshop with it.

Your comments are always welcome. Please visit my site (details in signature) if you wish to view this location in Google Earth (perhaps to get a feel for the compositional freedom I was afforded.)

:)

I love the shot, the evening light is really pleasing and compliments the geometry of the stadium.

I have walked down that path many times but there have always been so many people (most of them in Red and White) around that I have never noticed how magnificent the stadium looks.

Here is the vertical shot, taken under slightly different lighting conditions (a few minutes later - you can see no golden light falling on the stadium in this photo)).

I like #2. It's cleaner without the cut off strut. Thought I like the colors in the fist better. Have you considered cropping the fist shot similar to the view you shot in the second?

either pic works for me. normally, that railing close to you would seem distracting, but it seems to blend with this pic nicely. well done!

Thanks....I guess I could crop the first pic to a similar composition to the second, but I'd be shedding a lot of pixels there.

I liked the second one, the light and sky is great in that. But the bottom part is little distracting.
