There would be 3 bricks because I'd sh** one.

I'm sure Amazon will take care of the issue, but that would be stressful!

I don't buy it; not for a second. I'm not sure what this guy is up to, but I'm as sure as I can be the he is full of BS.

Thief put the plastic back on? What? Yeah, and the guy who broke into my car put everything back in the console and glovebox before he left.

Thief did not put the styrofoam blocking back in the box. Why bother with the plastic?

Amazon actually paid return postage to get a package they KNEW was full of rocks. Huge BS moment, right there.

He's not sure if this happened at Canon or Amazon? Like there is any likelihood at all that nobody at Canon, or at Amazon, would notice 1 ripped-plastic, dirt covered, already opened box? "I've got this entire skid of 1DXII bodies for Amazon. One of them looks opened and messed with. I'll ship it anyway." or... "I just got this case of 1DXII bodies from Canon. One of them looks opened and messed with. I'll just put it on the shelf with the rest of them." or... "1DX II, 1DX II? Oh, here they are. Hmmmm! All of them look new and pristine, except this one right here. No reason to mention this to the boss. I'll just send this one."

Does anyone in their right mind buy this kind of gear from Amazon? The have a reputation for sending high-dollar stuff poorly packaged. At least he got that part of the video right; no padding/packing materials form Amazon is a way too-big box.

If you believe that Amazon was not actively watching the 1DX II inventory after getting burned for $6,000, I've got a box of kindling... I mean a 1DX II... that I'll sell you for way less than Amazon charges.

I put the odds of there being any truth in this series of videos at about the same risk of being eaten by a 25' Great White Shark, in your bathtub... twice.

Does the 1DxII come with shrink wrapping? I don't remember any of my cameras coming packaged like that (but I may just not remember it).

I pretty much only buy from Amazon. This video won't change that. I've had nothing but excellent service (and packaging) from Amazon. But, when I do purchase gear from them, I make sure it is shipped directly from Amazon and not from a 3rd party. You can buy stuff from Amazon that shows as "Amazon Prime", but unless you look closely it could be coming directly from Amazon or from a 3rd party that uses Amazon as a listing service.

For example, here are two listings for a Nikon 14-24 lens:

Listing 1 (external link)
Listing 2 (external link)

Both are "Amazon Prime" items. But one is sold directly from Amazon and one is from a 3rd party seller. Both will show up in an Amazon box with the Amazon Prime stickers and tape. I don't know if the guy in the video purchased his camera directly from Amazon or from a 3rd party. If it is directly from Amazon, that would be worrisome.

I do wonder, how many big name camera companies would respond like Amazon did if you called them and said, "Yeah, that $6K box you sent me had rocks and not a camera. Please send me another one". My experience with returns (albeit, nothing on the order of what this guy suffered) has been the same from Amazon. They don't bat an eye, just my word and they send me a new item. Oh, and you can order from them on a Saturday. Just sayin'...

My first thought at the shrink wrap was I've never seen that before. Wasn't sure (still not) so I didn't want to mention that. I've bought a LOT of stuff direct from Canon.

I'd love to hear Amazon's response to this. The company has been ripped for at least $6,000 cash and two 1DX II bodies. That has got to get Asset Management's attention. If it happened, of course.

Perhaps Amazon's electronics department could team up with Dell's flooring department and start a new Construction Materials company.

I visited amazon and they have halted sales of this camera directly from them...

Item Under Review
While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

Amazon and 3rd party sellers, do indeed cover return shipping. Their service is very good in this regard.

What seems unbelievable to me is spending 5 minutes rambling on leading up to opening the box.
If I had received a box of rocks or a brick for the first delivery, I'd be opening the 2nd box a lot faster.
I think almost anyone would. Way too theatrical.

Some attempted viral experiment, disgruntled Amazon customer, whatever. Not buying it.
