I took this one with the EF-M 55-200 lens while in Key West.

I just purchased a used M50 that arrives on Friday. Does anyone have experience using an external flash with it? I have a 90ex and a 580 EXII. The 580 seems like it might be overkill and I’m not sure about the 90ex. Any suggestions/recommendations appreciated. Thanks

I use the godox tt350 on mine, nice little flash and it integrates into all the wireless lights I have too. Paid only 59 for it from adorama.

I've had no problems with on or off-camera lights. I can't see why the 580EXII would be over-kill. The M50 is just a camera and you can use it with studio lights or with the smallest on-camera flash unit! The TTL works great and you can set FEC in-camera from the Quick Menu.

I like that alot. Shame people have to put so many ugly fences up around their properties though. :( Chain link fences are good for zombie shows (until they all coagulate and push over the prison fences), but terrible for photo aesthetics.

Bet there are some great areas for wildlife shots there. :)

Thanks, Teamspeed. We have sheep wandering freely and deer outside the higher fences. I detest the fences especially when doing weddings. There always seems to be a fence or a pole even at the most scenic spots.:-(

It's the dead bracken from last fall! It's normally lighter in colour but after heavy rain it appears reddish-brown. The dark brown vegetation is heather.

That's pretty neat, adds alot of color. We would just have green and brown here, living grasses and dead/dried grasses. Dandelions and other wildflowers will add color in the spring, but then as the heat rises in the summer, all the grasses go brown and dormant until fall rains.

Just not as photogenic IMO. I think I posted this before, but this is the look we get quite a bit here. The crops are green in the summer usually, this was harvest time, so even the fields are brown.

I have a Canon Speedlite 270EX II that I bought for travel, and it pairs really well with the M-series bodies. The head can be swiveled upwards to bounce the flash, which you cannot do with the 90EX. I also have a larger 430EX II, but prefer to use the smaller flash on the smaller M-series bodies -- plus it fits in the small camera bag I use for my M50 travel kit, where the 430EX II will not.
