Here is a link to that baby flashpoint flash:

https://www.adorama.com/fplfsmmain.html (external link)

About 1/2 the size of a 580EX, but has all the same features, and built in wireless receiver and transmitter for future Flashpoint/godox devices, and you can change settings in the M50 menu, and full tilt swivel head too.

This gives you an idea of the size next to the Godox flash that is the 580/600 equivalent.

That looks like quite a bargain. I didn't realize that some of the third party flashes allow you to change the settings in the camera body menu system -- that's important to me. I'm tempted to pick one up, but my Speedlite 270EX doesn't get that much use.

The power of this flash is more that it is integrated into the R2 family of flashes, so this will work with the AD200, 400 and 600 strobes and all the other flashes, IMO. The price and size are just icing on the cake. :)

Last year I took a series of photos of people I meet when I'm out walking. This is the first one of 2019.

I found a $22 solution to running the M50 all day long using a USB brick, woo hoo!

I could take a bunch of batteries, but if I want to do any time lapse or long videos, this is a bit better and about the cost of a single extra battery.

Cool, Teamspeed. For normal use, I think the M50's battery issues are overblown. I used my M50 for an entire week in the Florida Keys without a single battery swap. I took about 350 photos and maybe 10 short video clips. I did carry a spare battery around in my pocket, but never needed it.

That is about what the battery is rated for, especially on ECO mode.

I just thought it was neat to find a 3rd party application that allows a USB/power brick solution and Canon didn't think of it.

My battery meter still had not dropped under the "full" mark after all that use, though, so I never felt compelled to swap batteries. I do not have the camera set to any ECO mode -- my only concession to conserving battery life is to turn the camera off while I'm walking around. My original M would re-activate while attached to my Spider Holster, so I got into that habit.

Eco mode I think shuts down displays sooner and dims them in certain situations.

Team speed, did you ever tell us where we could find the $22 gadget that would allow us to use a battery pack? I thought I had read all of this thread but maybe I missed it.

Beautiful.
What a landscape and place to live.
That tumbling creek, stone fences, misty heights. Just fabulous.

I could melt into that landscape and enjoy it quite easily.

That is very close and the US Amazon site has this too. You pop in the battery pod, close the door, pop the rubber out of the way on the door, and plug in the USB/DC cable accordingly.
