Canon EOS M50

The latter issue sounds like a camera fault, mine has never locked up, and I don't think I have heard of others either.

I set my rear screen to use the lower quadrant and use relative mode to move the focus points around, and this greatly reduced the chance of the focus box moving to some other area due to my nose touching the screen. Until then, I had that happen a fair bit of the time.

You will experience the same thing with the RP and R, they all share the same tech and programming especially in this regard.

I've been using the upper right relative quadrant. I'll try the lower right, but given my personal ergonomics I'd expect the point to appear in the lower left and not the upper right if that was the issue. Maybe wandering fingers...
That still doesn't explain why choosing to disable touch focus doesn't actually disable touch focus. I'd really like to know if anyone else has that issue, or is able to accomplish what I was attempting to do.

I've just set mine to emulate my DSLRs as much as possible. Then it's an OK camera. Otherwise, forget it!

The M50 can do things my DSLRs cannot, and the only thing I have set up on it like my DSLR is back button focusing and auto ISO.

My DSLR has actually become my "stay at home" camera. Other than battery, I really can't see anything it does better than my M50. But then again, I'm not exactly the world's most demanding DSLR user. Kind of a pain that they haven't added built-in ND filters and zebras, though.


On a side note, while I'm here since apparently there's no love over in the M series thread, is there an easy way to get filters on the M series lenses?

I've been looking at the primes, but the front element extends apparently when focusing. The only way I've found around it is to use either Rokinon lenses, or to adapt some EF lenses.

I've just ordered a 32mm f/1.4 M lens and a Hoya polariser 43mm. I have 49mm filters for the kit lens (15-45mm) and they fit just fine. What lenses do you have?

Right now just the kit lens and some EF-S lenses with adapter. I'm trying to build a native kit around the camera with lenses that can be used both for video and still images.

Well, there is no problem putting 49mm filters on the kit lens.

I have been collecting Rokinon primes, I kinda liked them on the DSLR front, but with the M50, they really come into their own. The 50 1.2 is awesome and the 12mm f2 is as well.

The Canon 1.4 III. AF is OK- I'm used to a 5DIV, but you make the best of it, and there's no substitute for good technique (which I'm reminded of too frequently). Also, no sub for a good tripod!
