Good morning everyone, so I've looked high and low, but I've not found a tutorial for how to duplicate the THX intro with the earth shattering, known as Cavalcade, shown here (external link).

I would like to replicate it purely for personal use and customize the THX text at the end so it said a date instead of THX.

Many thanks for anyone who can advise me on this.

Cheers,
Daniel

There's After Effects tutorials for shattered text or liquid effects. Do you have access to 3D animation software? A full 3D package will give you control for first creating a shattered object. From that object, you can animate the shards as particles (I have Maya, and would use nParticles with gravity and ground plane as constraint). Then I'd have an instance of the fallen shards on the ground become fluid particles....and with other constraints, have the fluid reach a text target.
