Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Godox V860ii-s/Xpro-s trigger..I have wireless flash set to on on page 11 of the camera 1 tab in the menu...flash fires when on camera, when the flash is off camera the test button fires the flash, but when the trigger is on the camera the flash will not fire remotely. Thanks!

Make sure the wireless setting is off in the camera. I think that’s only used for Sony’s wireless system. The Godox system relies on the camera just thinking it’s a normal hot shoe flash. That said, I haven’t actually used my XProS on the A7III yet... so I’m going off of what I’ve read about others having problems.

Thanks for the response, set the wireless setting to off and still nada. Other than this little snafu, coming from a RX10iii I'm really loving the full frame experience!

Are they on the same channel and group? I used my Yongnuo 622C II triggers on the A7III without any issues. Also is silent shutter mode disabled?

Did you set up an ID code for one or the other? If the ID’s don’t match I don’t think they’ll work, although it shouldn’t trigger from the test button on the transmitter if that’s set wrong. Hmmm

If none of that works, I’d reset both the flash and the transmitter to factory settings and start over. Just press the buttons on either side of “RST” and RESET will display on the panel when it’s finished.

Sorry I meant it triggers with the test button on the flash itself...I did not set up an ID, I'll look into that, thanks!

That was a good writup.

I'm considering it for the silent shutter feature. I need it for doing still images in certain venues (indoor performances, stills for student films, etc.). I have to have 100% silence in these situations. Mirrorless cameras with that option will suffice.

I'll probably keep my Canon 6D and glass, however. It's been my buddy for five years now. Prior to that I never kept a camera more than a year.

I am using a Sony A7RIII with the Xpro-s trigger along with the V860-II. The combination works, so I am going to guess you have something
set up incorrectly. I don't think the setting you mentioned "wireless flash set to on on page 11 of the camera 1 tab" is the problem. I think you
need to have the "Flash Mode" on that same page to something other than "Flash Off", and it should work....I am far from being a Sony expert, but
the Xpro-s trigger and V860-II and Flashpoint 360 have worked well thus far.

Hope this helps,

110yd

I found a pain in the ass problem today shooting an engagement. The camera was knocking everything out of the park until a photo I tried to do at the bottom….

Thanks for the response - I tried all the settings under "Flash Mode", to no avail. After more videos than I care to remember and everyones input here, I'm thinking I have a defective trigger, or maybe the receiver on the flash, I just don't know how to figure out which. I was gonna add a second v860ii anyway, so I guess Ill try that first. Appreciate all the responses.

I pulled out the A7III, XProS and TT685S last night and popped the transmitter on top of the camera. Without changing anything in the menus (wireless off, flash mode left on the default “fill in” setting) and it works like it should. -?

Does the transmitter fire the flash at all, when neither are on the camera (or the camera is off) using the test button on the transmitter? One more thing, once it connects and you fire at least one test shot.. the flash should display SONY in the bottom left corner above Zm/C.Fn... that’s not shown in your photo above, so it seems there’s a communication error somewhere along the way.

No, the transmitter does not fire the flash at all when neither are off of camera, or the modeling light...I did not know it was supposed to display SONY, its definitely not doing that...

Then there’s definitely something wrong. It’ll show the brand of whatever master it sees, once it makes the connection (Fuji, Sony, etc). You can see an example here: https://petapixel.com …oss-brand-ttl-hss-lights/ (external link). The modeling light function doesn’t work with speedlites, it’s only for the dedicated off camera units like the AD200/AD600, both of which have LED modeling lights.
