Ok, really appreciate your (and everyones) input, thanks again.

So if the trigger is capable of firing the flash even when the trigger is not mounted on the camera (did not know that), which mine is not doing - and I'm supposed to see SONY on my trigger, which I am not, I guess it looks like a trigger.

Unfortunately I don’t think there’s any definitive way to know if the transmitter or receiver is defective without a third flash/receiver to test. All I can say for sure is they don’t seem to be communicating properly. If you’ve reset both and they still won’t talk to each other, then I’d see about getting a replacement of one or both.

Take a good look at the contacts on the XProS trigger. They are pretty delicate, and all it takes is one bent pin.

Hope this helps,

Can anyone posts some low light photos using the A7iii ? (or point me in the direction where I can see some).

I would love to be able to take photos of my family with silent shutter at home in the evenings indoors.

My wife always puts her hand up to block my field of view when she hears the 7D make noises.

it'll be at least 2 stops better than your 7D, and generally give much sharper images.

This type of situation the A7iii really does work extremely well.

SmallRig L-bracket.

Pros

Very very well machined, this will out live the camera, easily.
Cheap, I got it with 50% off pre-order for £25.
Keeps tripod mount centred to camera
Comes with tools.
It is Arca Swiss plate compatible, both horizontal and vertical.
Access to battery door

Cons

It needs tools to use, the Allan Key is held on by magnets but I feel it'll most likely be lost day to day shooting.
It's heavy, it adds a noticeable weigh to the camera.
The pinky "section" seems to stick out front he contour of the body a bit more.
More slippery than the leather half case.

How do I compare it to the Lim's Leather case? fantastic L-bracket, it is much better than those £20 L-bracket you find on Amazon solely on the tripod mount alone without mentioning the build quality. It is machined accurately, to the point it allows for the little strap triangle to stick out.

Although right now I prefer Lim's leather case as I am used to it's texture.

Congrats and welcome to the club :D the individual threads don't seem to be used much for the Sony bodies.

I tried the 55mm f/1.8, it's an awesome lens too bad I rarely use that focal range

Anyone using this body with the Canon 70-200 (Non-IS) 2.8 w/ the MC-11? How well does AF work?

I don’t have any experience with that exact lens/adapter combo but I’ll share something similar. I have the 70-200 2.8 IS II + MB5 and it’s ok for static or slow moving subjects. IMO its useless for trying to track anything in C-AF in continuous shooting. It starts off finding focus, but once that subject starts moving it loses it and can’t recover. That’s with the latest firmware out as of today. In general (especially with older design Canon lenses like the non-IS 70-200) the MB is the preferred adapter from what I’ve seen. With newer models it’s kind of a wash with the MB5/MC-11 with certain ones working a bit better with one or the other. I have seen a few reports of it working ok if you use the slowest possible continuous shooting mode, but I haven’t tried this with my own gear.

That said, no adapted Canon lens is ever going to be as fast as Sony native. I ended up buying the Sony 70-200 2.8 GM and IMO it’s been great (other than thinking it’s a bit overpriced). It’s at least as good as the 70-200 II in comparison to comparable real world shots in my LR catalog.

I would love to be able to take photos of my family with silent shutter at home in the evenings indoors.

My wife always puts her hand up to block my field of view when she hears the 7D make noises.

Very frustrating. Adults can be so stubborn about taking photos.

It’s even more frustrating for me because, as a veteran teacher I love how the students practically climb over each other to get into photos. It’s wonderful. We took some eighth graders on a three-day field trip and got so many good pics.

But as soon as I try that with a roomful of adults they don’t want to participate, especially the women. Guys won’t say no usually (although they rarely are enthusiastic), but women almost always say no. My wife says she is trying to get better about it, but I’ve about given up.

It’s so bad that when there’s a big family event I don’t want to take photos or bring my camera. They’ll ask me to but I don’t like it because a large percentage will ask me to stop.

Photos capture memories. Who cares if you don’t look your best. You are who you are.

I know the feeling. However, my teenage son hates being photographed. From elementary school days till now he's always tried his best to stay away from the camera. His girlfriend, however, totally opposite. :-)
