I have seen alot of sellers listed the A7 III for alot more than the retail price. These cameras are instock everywhere you look. Why on earth people think that they make money out of it? The camera is NO LONGER a hot camera.

I wouldn’t say it’s no longer a hot camera. It’s still listed as the #1 selling mirrorless camera at B&H and Adorama’s stock is listed as low. That said, no need for anyone to try to sell for well above retail since it seems the supply and demand have started to equalize.

This third generation comes almost three years post the A7 II was launched back in 2014, and it’s known to be the ‘basic’ model in Sony’s full-frame category.
SONY A7 III :-)The body made of Magnesium body appears quite light in weight yet additionally guarantees durability for long-haul use. The external plastic and rubber covering gives a premium feel, and the holding grip is found to be of a comfortable size. The body is likewise intended to provide dust resistance and dampness.
You can observe a decent number of buttons that can be customized (C1-C4) that are distributed over the rear and top panels. The Sony A7 III does not come with a built-in flash, so, one needs to utilize an external one with the help of the hot shoe. You additionally get a tiltable 3-inch LCD having a 921K dot resolution and touch support to permit zooming and focusing on your clicks.:love:

Sounds like advertising...are you a troll, Ankusha:rolleyes:

Anyway, here in Taiwan (where I live) it is definitely "hot," in that it is somewhat hard to get. My favorite dealer says to wait til 2019, whereas another dealer said he can get one in 10 days. However, both of these dealers sell them at a bit UNDER Suggested Retail Price, rather than over.

Sony cameras are doing their rounds here (Australia) with 15% off prices.
Wonder if there's a push to clear old stock to make way for next generation?
I look at the A7, A9 and do get a bit clucky, but will bide time and see what transpires.

That said, one never catches up.

So you spilled water on the camera and CPS said it was toast, or they could not repair it? Just trying to figure out what you meant. Glad you are enjoying your new sony. I used the Canon M5 last year on a test run and I have to say that one felt like a toy compared to the 1D4!

Yes.... But the problem I had with CPS is that they received my box in less than 24 hrs and lost it for 5 days. Couldn't find it...gone. and then it magically appeared. And at this point I realized by talking to the 7th different person on the phone is that they do not touch water damage.

Just picked mine up tonight, along with an MC-11 and a Samyang 35mm 2.8. A modest start. 285 minutes to fully charge? Damn, that's a long time...

I hope so. I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of a regular charger, but it may be a blessing in disguise. I just ordered an electric scooter (I almost never drive a car) with a built in USB charger, so when I go out shooting, I will be able to recharge on the go, whenever I move to a new shooting location. Might be great...

Sounds great ! It is strange that it doesn't come with a charger. Funny how I just read this right after ordering a charger and extra battery from B&H.

I just bought a 3rd party charger and battery for about $30.

Anyhoo, had a blast today playing with the new camera. Downloaded a simple app and used it to update the MC-11, and it seems to work AWESOMELY. I'm delighted. My Tamron and Canon lenses work great. My Sigs are sweet as hell, except for a recently purchased 105mm macro, which doesn't work at all. Zero recognition from the MC-11, but I don't mind if all my other lenses are kicking butt--and they are! The auto-focusing and eye focus are great. And shaving off the extra wight is and size is terrific. I was debating going full M4/3, and this really seems to be the perfect "in between"--but without compromises (at least in how I use them) because for me the Sony seems to be better than both...

A couple of complaints.
1. Using a polarizing filter was a pain in the neck. It was bad time of day, but I could hardly see a difference in the view-finder when I turned the filter, and I had to use the viewer because...
2. In even not-direct-sun daylight, the view screen was a virtual mirror. Couldn't see a damned thing. The eye-viewer wasn't a mirror, of course, but is a far-cry from REALLY seeing TTL.

Also,
3. I shot some beautiful magenta flowers, and on the screen they magically transformed to purple. I stood right there with the camera--they were purple in the back-panel, and a beautiful magenta pink in real life. And back home on the computer they were purple, too, so some serious color rendition problems.

That said, I like the camera lot. It is fresh and fun. My 5D4 was great, but never quite satisfying. I always felt like I was missing focus a bit, and hated always second-guessing myself and fiddling with the micro-focus and then zooming in to pixel-peep. I guess that's all behind me now. I also miss having the key data in the screen on top of the camera, but for a much smaller camera, it is certainly a worth-while trade-off.

Anyone experiencing the "A7iii lockup??"

Oddly this only happens with me when I use my GM16-35. So far all of my other lenses including adapted glass does not have this issue.

When the camera goes to sleep I try to wake it up and I get a black screen and a "blinking" reading memory card indicator.

Pulling out the two memory cards will wake up the camera or pulling the battery. This happened with the old firmware and the most recent VER. 2.0.

Doing some research it appears this is getting more and more noted on the forums.

As I use my A7iii as a hobby camera this isn't scaring me but if I was using this camera for events photography I'd be really concerned.

No lockup issues for me at all so far, but I haven’t used the 16-35GM. Everything works as I expect with the 85GM, 24-70GM, and 70-200GM, plus adapted Canon lenses with the MB V.
