No lockup issues for me at all so far, but I haven’t used the 16-35GM. Everything works as I expect with the 85GM, 24-70GM, and 70-200GM, plus adapted Canon lenses with the MB V.

Oddly the GM 16-35 is the only thing that locks up my camera randomly from time to time.

Seems like this issue maybe with the GM16-35 so far. Lockup’s are popping up in the web so I’m not thinking this is an isolated issue. Thousands of products manufactured are bound to have issues I guess.

hopefully something that can be rectified via firmware.

That's weird. Would be interesting to figure out why that happened. But you are happy with the sony so enjoy!

Dealing with Sony Canada's customer service at the moment. Waiting to hear what they will say......

I am really enjoying the Sony system. But truthfully I'm still extremely happy with my Canon gear too. My Xt2 does produce amazing images too but I do find that the A7iii and 5dmk4 has really spoiled me in natural light shooting.

:)

Could just be a firmware clash between that particular lens and the body?

I'm enjoying the Sony System too but I am eager to see what those 12 lenses are going to be, I really want a native 35mm f/1.8 or f/2.

I've given a lot of details to Sony and I'm waiting to hear back from them. Their initial return email asked alot of questions that I already detailed on my initial email.

Sony files are still more difficult for me to edit the way I like compared to Canon and Fuji. However my recent trip to Disneyland the A7iii was just killer!!! The iso performance and the retention of detail is fantastic. My Sony files did NOT fall apart in low light so I was sooooooo pleased!!!! I was so incredibly amazed in the performance of this system.

I'm just debating on what lens to get next for the Sony world. I just cant wait for the EOS R to improve in mk2,3,4,5 LOL!!! Sony is such a logical choice at the moment for a mirrorless system.

Hey anyone have any experience with the Ziess 85mm lens for sony? I was looking at the Sony versions but the Ziess looks like a middle choice between the 1.8 and the 1.4 lenses. I know the camera is better with native glass, but just curious about the Ziess group of lenses and Sony.

If you're doing a search, don't search on Ziess. :-)

You might want to watch this comparison between the two 85 1.8’s before buying the Zeiss. They seem to be darn near identical in output.

I personally bought the 85 1.4 GM. As an owner of the EF 85 1.2L II, it was closer to what I was used to. I also don’t care for the “swirly” bokeh of the 85 1.8’s in certain situations.

THanks for the link. Interesting review. I am considering adding the Sony to my Canons, and I just bought the 85 1.4 earlier this year. Knowing I cant afford all the lenses to replace the canons, I was looking at the body and one lens, one of the 85 mm. Always a chore to determine which one of the various lenses to buy.

You could always buy the Sony and adapt with the MC-11 (now on sale for $150, which is $100 off) for a while to test the waters. That’s what I did. It works really well for anything non-action where you’d want high fps. So for something like portraits it’d work great to just adapt your Canon lenses for a bit until you decide to go native.
