Feb 27, 2018 13:48 | #3 Cool - if it is your main editor - and if you are not aware - be sure to go into the Expert Editor and - File - and Open As Raw so you can edit your images with various tools and sliders similar to Lightroom.

ranmasu Senior Member More info | Thanks! I usually use Lightroom to make my initial edits then finish them off in PSE because I can use some of it's tools better. (Healing Tool). Since Lightroom is now subscription only, I'd rather just do everything in PSE if possible. The sliders are launched through Camera Raw, right? Sorry for my ignorance but what is the NIK collection?

PhotoLab replaces everything I used LR for, and overall does a better job with processing my RAW files. I had no desire to move to Adobe's subscription model.

Does PhotoLab have a good healing/Content Aware type brush?

Yes, that is part of the local adjustment features that were added when DxO transitioned the product from the Pro Optics name to PhotoLab. I had to use the healing brush on a bunch of recent shots from the Florida Keys where I had dust on my sensor, and it worked just as well as the one in Lightroom.

I am still in old Lightroom without subscription so no dehaze tool, and I don’t want to jump into the subscription level. Does PSE has catalog? And from the comment above I need to used expert editing so the raw file from Canon can be downloaded to PSE? Sorry for the newbie question never used this photo editor before. Peter

Search for Lightroom 6 dehaze Presets, they are free - Lr6 has the dehaze under the hood but needs the Dehaze Presets. I am still happy with Lr6, but I need an SSD in my computer to speed things up. Wish PSE was 16 bit for the fun stuff...
