We all have issues at times with photo gear. At times, service needs to be contacted concerning the issue. What I have noticed on the Canon forms, is some people crying about Canon service being awful because they don't answer emails. They must receive thousands of emails everyday. We have a wonderful invention. It's call a PHONE. Call them. They answer every time. Smartphones are very good at making phone calls. They are capable of letting you talk to people. They do more than let you play games and access social media. So please stop complaining about Canon, or other companies, not responding to emails. Call them. You'll probably be amazed at how quickly your question will be answered.

Let the flaming begin.

Why bother to talk to someone when you have alternatives to that, like Facebook and Twitter and email?!
 :p
The impersonal 'communications' (or lack thereof) allows parties to hurl accusations and provides an opportunity to lay blame elsewhere.

some anecdotes

  • Our oldest (herself being well beyond being a kid, and certainly not a Millenial) 'keeps in touch with friends' from high school and from college days via Facebook. I tell her it isolates her from them by making her think she knows what is going on...I say in response that it is better to call and talk to them!
  • I recall one year there was a lot of guessing and speculation among a group of about 6 people whether my wife and I were going to some event. There were emails flying back and forth. After seeing the email traffic I asked my wife, "Why doesn't one of them simply CALL us and ASK us, instead of all this email traffic?"

I tried Facebook. No thanks, I don't care for being a commodity for
advertisers. DFK, DFC what Twitter even is.

I simply don't believe in Social Media, classic waste of time and energy IMHO. eMails, sure, but I don't send out many, maybe one or two a week. Texts, I never initiate one, only answer some, maybe once a month. IMO, a phone is for talking to another person:

A telephone, or phone, is a telecommunications device that permits two or more users to conduct a conversation when they are too far apart to be heard directly.

You get a lot from just hearing the voice on the other end and you can ask questions right then, not bounce them around.
