I've just sent off to inquire about the cost and lead time to have this service performed. I'll keep you guys updated. I'd rather just have mine converted than selling for a loss then buying new retail again. Adapter may be OK but I'm under the impression the native mount versions will have full focusing features just as it was a Sony glass.

A buyer of one of my lenses did a conversion. Pricing is tiered depending on the lens. Turnaround was 3 weeks.

I wonder if they would convert a 120-300. Probably not since it’s not native available yet.

Oh well. I’d move back to that lens in a heartbeat

Got an email back. They told me they haven't set the price for this service yet but to keep checking.

Talley - Are you talking about a specific lens? I just looked on the Canadian site and there are prices listed for a good number of lenses.

That is exactly what I wanted to have done with my 300-800mm. . Sadly, they will not do this for my lens. . Such a bummer.

"Sent off" ....... really? .. Why?

You can just call them on the phone and they'll talk about it with you.

And you don't even have to wait on hold - every time I call them about stuff they pick up right away.

I dunno... I'm pretty busy so was quicker for me to call. Plus at work I hate doing personal stuff where everyone can hear me.

More convenient for basic inquiries to fire off emails while at work and then come back to read the responses later... Especially for the busy folks that never get a break... :(

Yeah - I have the Sigma 120-300/2.8 Sport in EF mount. If and when I do go full over to Sony, that's one lens I'd love to convert. I rather imagine at the moment it isn't available.

I use a Canon 5DIII and a Sony A7rIII

Before making the mount conversion i’d Make sure that the converted lens will perform just as good as the native Sigma lens. My understanding there were some major firmware changes for AF in the native mount lenses and possibly some focus motor updates as well.

Personally i’d get confirmation from Sigma that the converted lens is more than just a permanent MC-11 attached to the old lens.

I did. I talked to Jeff at sigma yesterday. He assured me that a native E mount Sigma lens will be 100% native functional and in some cases perform better (my 85A) since the auto focus on the sigma 85 is faster than the 85 GM.

I'll get my sigma primes converted but will buy the 135A native since it makes more sense to do that.

Besides... Sony doesn't make a 135 F1.8 so this will be a nice addition.

Yes...it will be 100% native functional...but will it be as good ( AF wise ) as the newly released native mount Sigma lenses. Like I said, I heard there is more to these lenses than just the mount...they have improved on the focus motors. I don't believe you'll get these improved focus motors if you convert from a Canon mount Sigma lens.

I'd verify this before spending the cash on the conversion.

I don’t think they are different.
