So after a 15 year hiatus from shooting shows I started shooting local shows in small clubs again about a year ago. Yesterday I emailed a PR company with links to my work and asked about shooting a very well know band that has been around for a long time that play all over the world and certainly doesn't need any exposure I can give them lol. Their PR guy got back to me this morning and said he needed an "assignment" for management to review from the publication I will be shooting for which is a very small very new online publication started about 2 months ago. I emailed my editor and he emailed my assignment to the PR guy. The PR guy approved me to shoot the show in under 24 hours. I was totally amazed!! Sometimes they wait weeks or even until the day of the show to approve people or even worse you never hear from them. Hopefully my shots come out good and I will have made a new connection. I just wanted to share the positive experience I had and I know they are all not like this but it sure was nice and it being the first time in years I reached out it made it even nicer.

Right on; that's great to hear!

I have the most success going through a band's management or PR firm. Going through the venue, for me, has produced only sporadic positive outcomes...

Just shut up and smile...
