My analysis of the new Lightroom version: it it faster? how about the new features?
I have waited three weeks to fully test it

For me it's not so much that it's faster, it was pretty fast anyway. It doesn't slow down NEARLY as bad with heavy editing however. It's worth the upgrade.

Yes, I perfectly agree,
no more decay in performances over a long session, this is really great.
I also found a huge increase in speed in generating preview, very useful for me because I do a lot of timelapses

I got back form a trip late last week and finally updated. I also never found it that slow but I tried out the brushes the other day and using multiple ones it was quicker.

I didn't find mine slow but it did get faster with 7.2.

Which ones? I've not been keeping up.

There are three minor functions:
- filter for images that have edits or no edits
- search for folders name across multiple drives and including nested folders (life changing for me)
- possibility to mark and filter folders as favorite (quite useful in my workflow)

According to individual workflows, some of them can be very useful, although they are not really flashy

So we are now happy that a program that has been crippled for many year is now working as it should have done, while we were paying the full rate for it. Are we also happy that Adobe have been taking our money all this time?
Ive always stuck up for Adobe, but with so many bugs and work flows getting longer and longer because of them i see nothing to celebrate.

Adobe obviously do, as their prices are going up. Way to keep customers.

I personally have never found it to be buggy, although I did tend to slow down with heavy editing. That's really the only gripe I've had with it.

The thing is, many times I have considered the alternatives and for me and my particular workflow it is the best option out there. I'm not saying other things do t work for other people they obviously do...but for me Lr has worked since v1 ( compared to alternatives ) and it still does.

This only applies to the monthly license right? Those of us on the standalone version can't update?

I believe that is correct. I don't think there is a perpetual version of Lr 7.

Yes it only applies to the monthly/annual plan. The last and final update to LR6 standalone licensing was version 14 in December of 2017.

Correct. There is no and won't be a perpetual LR7.

Hi John,
I perfectly agree with all you say here and you said it better than I would
