I just received a Flashpoint R2 trigger/receiver set today which I plan to use with both my Sigma TTL flash to replace the TTL cable on my field macro rig, and as a trigger for a couple of Flashpoint strobes for indoor macro when they come off of back order.

I cannot make the flash work from the receiver, not even with the test button on the receiver. The flash works, both from its own test button and from the camera (Canon T4i) with the cable.

Addendum:. I forgot to mention that when the flash is on, the display on the receiver blinks on and off.

Any suggestions?

When a third party flash manufacturer says their products are Canon compatible then they are compatible with OEM Canon cameras and Speedlites but, they may not be compatible with other third party manufacturers who claim to have Canon compatibility. Both companies are reverse engineering Canon protocol but they may not be doing it exactly alike so there may be issues with two third party manufacturers products working together even though they are both Canon compatible. I have never tested Sigma flash units with any Godox (Flashpoint) flash equipment but I have tested the Godox and Yongnuo products and they are not compatible in most cases.

The Godox (Flashpoint) TTL receivers need the flash placed in the hot shoe to be set to Wireless Slave "OFF" and "ETTL" mode in order to control the flash functions.

Thanks for the information.

These devices just came, so I haven't had much time to work with them.

I wonder if there's a problem with the contacts. Perhaps the socket is tight and the flash isn't all the way in. That's a logical explanation for why the test button on the receiver doesn't work.

I updated the firmware on the receiver.

It still won't activate the flash with the test button. The display on the receiver still blinks on and off when the flash is attached.

Flash is a Sigma EF500 DG Super.

The flash works very well on the camera hot shoe and with a TTL cable, so I don't want to replace it if at all possible.
