First and only time I've had the chance to see a Short-Eared Owl. Beautiful bird.

Great shot.
The focus and DOF just precise.
And the eyes of the bird.
Just perfect.

He offered it to the brooding female but she did not take it. So he beak fed her a few pieces.

Female Powerful owl. Chick (or chicks) 15 days old. She's still spending most of the day inside the hollow keeping them warm.
Her brooding patch is visible.

Great shots - is there a visible difference between the male and female? Or do you just know which is which because you've been observing them for so long?

Thanks. I can recognise them by appearance. Currently easy as male roosts outside, female is in the hollow most of the time. She is also becoming dirty from being inside the hollow and not bathing, also her tail feathers are getting tatty.
