Hi all, can anyone tell me what this is i see on just a portion of my images? Is my sensor going bad or just in nedd of a good cleaning?

I hope this is the right section of the forum?

Thanks for any recommendations as to how to fix before i head over to Canon.

This is from a 5D3

May we also see the whole photo, for context?

I'm not seeing the portion of the image you expanded. Are you talking about the vertical banding?

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I had a 5d2, and now a 4...skipped the 3 so I'm not intimately familiar with it. Considering the ISO setting I suspect you are seeing some sort of banding noise. Do you see this in lower ISO shots?

Yes even at base 200...i am asking because i have never seen a bad sensor ..but i've seen examples of banding online but no bad sensor.

I might try to clean the senor then and check again for the lines.

Thanks.

That has nothing to do with sensor dirt. Either you have electronic interference, or you are zoomed in like 600%? It would be nice to see the original image. Seeing a shrunken version of a different image in the series won't help. Could you share the CR2 file via dropbox or google drive?

Sometimes a flash, or R/F devices can cause those types of lines in images. Also, how did you zoom in to get this crop? Is this a 100% or did you zoom farther? Again, sharing the raw file will be most helpful.

I shot this as a fine jpeg and resized for web with ON 1 resize
...i just did a quick read up on electronic interference.

I'm going to have to run a few test and see....

I posted awhile back this 5D3 N.O.O.B died after one shoot, when back to canon and the core was more or less replaced...i will NEVER buy online again! I have since found a local store i deal with for all my photography needs unless i am in Manhattan...then it's B&H.

Thanks

I usually set my iso to "auto iso" and till now it's been quite reliable when i shoot sports indoors.

...but i'll test it out again with some images using what my handheld meter says the conditions are at.

Thanks.
