Good Morning Everyone!

My name is Jerry and I am from Texas. I started doing food photography two years ago, actually by accident.
I was in Bazille at Nordstorm and had a sandwich. I loved the presentation so much, I took a photo of
it with my iPhone and posted on Facebook (i was new to Facebook at the time and had just gotten my real estate license).

Anyways, my friends loved it and asked where I took the photo etc. It kind of snowballed from there and I began taking photos of everything I ate.

Since then, I have discovered I have a passion for food (both eating and photographing it). Round is a shape!

My question to you all is, how do I start photographing for restaurants I eat at? Both are a mix of locally owned and name brand places. I have a business card with just food photos I carry with me and handout as often as I can.

What can I do to start getting food photography jobs? How else should I present my work? On CD, iPad in print?

I would graciously appreciate any help you might offer. All of my food photos are posted on my instagram at:

Thank you so much for your time!

Consider that food photography for local eating establishment is generally less demanding of a task than food photography for national advertising. The stuff done for national ad campaigns probably is as much about the techniques of food presentation, and about food styling, as it is about lighting and photography!

Welcome to POTN! I'm right down the road from you in downtown Houston. I know nothing about food photography, but I had a friend back in South Carolina who started shooting for a local culture magazine, and that brought her a lot of food assignments. Maybe look into that route?
