How do we nominate a pic for "Best Of" status ?

I saw a photo that someone posted that I tried to nominate for the "Best Of" award. . So I clicked on the "Report" button ........ but amongst all of the options, I didn't see any option specifically for nominating for BEST OF consideration.

Here is the REPORT menu:

I nominate pics for Best of Gallery on occasion and use the option "Other". Works fine.

Does the management welcome nominations from members?

That's kind of what I was wondering.

The fact that there is no menu selection specifically for nominations makes me wonder if "they" are trying to discourage us from making nominations.

If this is the case, that's fine with me, but I would at least like to know, one way or the other.

Another forum that I belong to has what they call "Editor's Choice", which is awarded to a small number of submitted images. . The Editor / Owner of that forum is the only one who selects images for that honor, a fact which is pretty obvious from the use of the term, "Editor's Choice".

If we, the POTN membership in general, are not to be nominating images for "Best Of', then I think that what we actually have here, in effect, is an Editor's Choice kind of deal ..... which I think is pretty cool.

I just want to know how it all works and what Pekka's goals are for the Best Of selections and how they are to be chosen and just who it is that is to be doing the choosing. . I don't remember ever seeing all of this explained anywhere, and so of course I am curious about it. . I'm one of those guys who wants to know everything about everything

The quality I've been seeing lately makes it difficult to choose a single "best". There's a lot of great work in this forum.

This thread piqued my interest and out of curiosity I just looked at the "Best Of" and there have been 5 "Best Of" photos in the "Glamour" forum in the last month. However, in the "Landscape" forum, a forum that has double the number of posts as the Glamour forum, there hasn't been a single "Best Of" photo in about 5 months. What's up with that?
