Seems to be a new social site where photographers enter their shots in an ever-changing list of topic competitions.

Anyone ever heard of them?

Nope. Never seen it before. Looks like it might be interesting, but I'm growing increasingly tired of sites that require an account or sign in to even just look at it. Thanks but I'll pass.

I'm going to try to revive this thread. What's the communitys thoughts about gurushots. Is it a fun game or should one stay away?

I'm considering getting an account on gurushots and play, hoping to get inspired and have fun. I'm simply a hobbyist.

I just clicked on the link and was able to see everything, with no account. . So I give them credit for changing that.

However, the pages take . f . o . r . e . v . e . r . to load.

I'm used to having pages load in a second or two, even when there are big image files, but this site's pages take, like, 15 to 25 seconds to load. . It's absolutely horrible. . I can't imagine that anyone in the world would have the patience to waste so much time just to see some kinda-okay amateur photos.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I played for a little while, then bailed out. My "grain of salt" takeaways:

* - Your image gets more exposure during the challenge if you vote a lot, so in order to get a lot of views, and therefore a lot of votes, you have to spend a lot of time on the site.
* - It's against the rules, but many people will enter a photo in a challenge that had previously won a different challenge ... and they win again, and again, and again.
* - Way too many submissions per challenge, in my opinion.

edit to add: it's always debatable if the winning photos even meet the theme ... beautiful women and epic landscapes win, no matter what.

I haven't clicked on the site - I get suspicious of all the "click-bait" out there, but what happens to your images after you've uploaded them? Also, does it look like they're selling advertising in the margins in order to "fuel" the site along with the hard work of photographers? Just call me cynical

Thank you. This makes me hesitant to play because it could potentially discourage instead of encourage spending time with the camera.
