thanks michael.
be in touch and when you are in tokyo, we can have a POTN meet in tokyo.
With so many cameras and stores and photographic options available in Japan, it is surprising to see no response to this thread.

Hi Swapnali,

I'm in Tokyo, but I tend to lurk here more than post. I'm nowhere near as an accomplished photographer as you... but there must be more of us in Tokyo I'm sure (I know there are a lot here, but they're other forums).

wow you guys got me worked up on getting out now! the blossoms are almost fully bloomed! i got this park right across the street from my house and my wife said when the cherry blossoms are at 100% bloom there, its gorgeous. I certainly hope so! I usually have early morning hours free which would work well with the sun. Any of you have any other ideas where blooms would really be good?

on another note, what jobs you guys got? english teaching?

Hi Andy,
Yoyogi-koen & Ueno park is good to see blossoms. These places are crowded, but if you have time on weekdays' mornings its good to visit. yoyogi-koen blossoms a little late.

This weekend is official date of blossom. K u d a n s h i t a is also good place to see blossoms. This weekend there is a festival called Sakura bazaar in Indian emabassy at K u d a n s h i t a. You can see Sakura (May not be able to photograph due to crowd) and have Indian food etc. see map attached.

I am in IT, so can have only weekends for photographying.

Hey this is great to see more people appearing! I'm a researcher (sort of in IT too) so weekends are usually the best for me too, though the occasional weekday sometimes pops up. The event at the Indian embassy sounds great, but I've got other committments this weeken unfortunately.

The sakura is really looking beautiful at the moment, I hear it's going to rain though, so maybe best to get as many shots in before it all gets knocked off!

Why is hanami always at the end of the financial year when I'm most busy? :)

Well as an amateur photographer your photographs are very impressive. I have so much to learn, but I enjoy the artistic side of it (maybe I should get more into the equipment aspect... )

We're all lucky to live in Tokyo - a truly great place for photography.
