Anyone with Lexar experience?

Currently I'm using all Lexar Professional cards (both SD and CF), and have had a few not so pleasant experiences and wanted to know if anyone has encountered something/anything similar.

In my 5DIII, I've got a 64GB 1066x CF card and 32GB SD card (I can't remember the speed). I have raw files being shot to the CF card and large jpegs to the SD card. All day long no issues; hundreds of images shot. Then about halfway through the reception, bam, I press the shutter button and the shutter opens, but never closes. The red light just stays on until I shut off the camera, at which the top lcd flashes (way too quickly I might add) a Card 12 Error (I think it is 12 anyway). When I turn the camera back on, it works fine for a while, but then will do it again. I'm totally puzzled how the setup will work fine all day long and it is only when I get to a certain point that it craps out. Anyone have anything similar happen? Were you able to resolve your situation?

I'm thinking that there is a corrupt part of the card and when the camera gets to the point where it needs to write to that sector, it gives the error message (although at this point I don't know if it is the CF or SD card).

The problem is in recreating the error. I can't do it intentionally; it kind of just happens. I'm going to order some new cards of a different brand (i.e. Sandisk) and see what happens.

Does Lexar still honor the warranties on their cards?

I use the Lexar Professional cards and have never had a problem. Very reliable. I would think they would honor any warranty claim (why wouldn’t they?).

I use Lexar Pro's. They're excellent.

If you have receipt, and you're in the warranty period, they should honor it.

I had one of their cards go bad on my about 2 years into its lifecycle; I just contacted them by email and they set up a return/replace without a problem.

Though I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, I guess contacting them for repair/replacement is a fist step.

The Lexar name was purchased by Longsys around mid to late 2017. The Longsys website is http://www.longsys.com​/ and they say they will honor the Lexar warranties. Go to the site and step through the warranty procedures and let us know how you make out.

I do not know how you would prove that the issue is definitely a card issue and not a camera issue, without actually sending the card in to the manufacturer for testing.

My Lexar experience is less than other. I have had issue with more than one CF and SD. Keep in mind Lexar used to be a Intel/Mricro subsidiary. They use Micro flash but NOT in house controller. So the usage of their flash can NOT be optimal. My suggestion is always go with brand that made their own flash. In the old Lexar case yes. If possible, also go with brand that make their own controller. My preferred brand is Sandisk and Samsung for these reason.

Now Lexar is no long part of Micron, I am not so sure I will still have a the same confident as before.

Another thing of note that I just recalled about the situation is that each time the error occurred, roughly 1-3 frames before the error happened, my shutter sounded like it was slowing down (I was at 1/125, but the shutter sounded like 1/30) yet the image came out fine and the metadata said 1/125. Other than the Lexar card in the camera, the only other common denominator when the issue occurs is that I'm using some sort of Godox/Flashpoint trigger (either the R2 Zoom speedlight or the R2 TTL trigger).

It has been almost a month since you've first reported the issue. Have you contacted the "new owners" of Lexar about a warranty replacement of the possible bad card?

Well, I get the "Card Error" message all the time with all of my Canon DSLRs, no matter what card I am using. Yet there's never been anything wrong with any of my cards. It's just what cameras do.

When I get the "Card Error" message, I just flick the on/off switch off, and then quickly back on again. Or else I open the card slot door, halfway eject the card, shove it back in again, and close the door. Each of these solutions take, quite literally, less than two seconds, and either one has always cleared the error message and then I can shoot just fine without any further problems.

The card error messages don't, of course, mean that anything is actually wrong with the card. It's just a little glitch that the cameras get that is very easily cleared - kinda like hitting the "refresh" button on your computer when a webpage is slow to respond.

I've kind of forgotten about this thread to be honest as I think I have nailed down what was the problem. Yes, it was me...I think. I think what was happening was, based on how I grip the camera, the palm of my right hand was pulling slightly back on the grip causing the card door to every so slightly begin the process of opening. I think the camera didn't like that. I've cut a small piece of gaffer's tape across that section, and viola! No more issues.

I feel really stupid that it was me the whole time, but hey, at least I've figured it out.

I know this is an old thread, but I've not had any issues with my Lexar Pro's.
