I went through all this research a couple of years ago.
According to some online reviews, the Panasonic LX-100 does not fully use the entire sensor so it seems you won't get the full m4/3 benefits. https://www.dpreview.com …panasonic-lumix-dmc-lx100
For me, the clincher was: do I want smaller/lighter but still require a bag of lenses such as an m4/s system vs a camera that I can fit inside a jacket or trouser pocket?
So I opted for the G7x. I now also have the G7x mkii and I am very happy overall. I also considered the G1x with its bigger sensor, but with the trade-off of a bigger body and protruding lens I felt it was just a tad too large to be truly "pocketable".
So with reference to your query, it is a matter of how small/compact/light you want to go. As you stated that you are a Canon fan, would you consider the G1X series? Or an EOS M series allowing you to possibly use your existing lens? (I have never used any of the M series though).
Good luck!
