What speedlites are Sony users buying?

I’m just curious what Sony users are purchasing for speed lights?

Are they just using the cheap godox brand or are they actually buying OEM?

I’ve typically purchased native OEM flash but not certain what others do for Sony. In the Fuji world everyone buys the cheap godox brand vs Fuji oe.

I looked at which brand offered the most and would suit me best and landed with Godox. Sony flashes come at a premium, to expensive for what they offer.

V860II Flashpoint

Godox/flashpoint , in my opinion seems to be what majority of people are using.
It's what I'm using , never owned a native sony speedlight.. (or fuji)
To me they've been reliable
I have a pair of 360's
The mini 350
And the lion zoom

The more I use the V860iiS I'm impressed how well it's built for a cheap flash. I just hope longevity wise it will hold up well. Thank goodness for a good alternative to OE.

Just bought X-pro F trigger. Works seamlessly with my 2 TT685-S and AD360 So not only a Sony user but also a Fuji user putting the same speedlights into service with both

Nothing but flashpoint for me

Now if only Godox could make a universal transmitter.

I'm assuming Godox TT685 and 860ii are NOT water resistant. If not I'm not how any pro can confidently use these flash units.

I had a Civil Ceremony and the weather turned into torrential rain!!

I didn't even feel a hint of worry for my 5dmk4 and older 580exii. The Sony stayed in the bag with the MC-11 and Canon 24-70L f/2.8mk2. The Godox V860ii S also was left out of service due to weather.

I just haven't seen any Pros ever comment on Godox speedlites and demanding situations where you have no choice but to battle with mother nature.

I'm not the sort to throw my gear into a situation like this. I had zero alternative and had to deal with the pouring rain. Cool shots but nonetheless a part of real circumstances.

I took my 5d4 and 200/2 for 30 minutes of under water photography...

... u know because I’m a pro

All kidding aside even pros should take care of their gear. They rely on it. I can trash my crap and go buy more but I’m not in a position to need to get the shot

I do take care of my gear. I do not put such wet conditions on my gear for cool factor :P I would not subject such abuse to my gear but if you're hired to document pivotal moments you do not take things lightly.

In my situation I had zero alternatives. I would not use a plastic bag over my flash head either but I guess I can scrape the melted plastic off later in the day LOL!!!

Hey Talley I've observed your Sony photos to have contrasty images with punchy aggressive colours. Since you're a Fuji and Canon shooter (past/present) how are you dealing with Sony colour science? I'm working real hard in post processing to achieve better skin tones in LR.

I've yet to use my A7iii alot with bounced flash so I'm still on a massive steep learning curve. If I use my Sony for hired events I would appreciate weather proof flash speedlights. I'm not even certain even OEM are weather resistant?????

Would be a pretty darned powerfull and fast recharging speedlite if it was to melt plastic at 3+cm distance from the fresnell

No I completely understand that side. Just one of those things

Right now I haven’t done any color science. Been shooting and transferring to my phone. Haven’t really messed with the Raws yet.

I actually prefer Fuji skin tones the most and canon contrast the most.

I have a hard time with color so I’m taking a let me worry about it later approach. I’m not going to let color get in the way for a camera that fits my needs better.
