7D2 owners help please.

Just got a 7D2 to compliment my 1DX2.
It's all going well with the exception of the viewfinder flashing red all the time it's metering and for some time after I take my hand off the Sutter button.

The camera is in AV mode, ai-servo, focus point illumination constant (I think) with a few other bits set the way I would normally have them.
It's not specific to any lens combination.

I can get rid of the problem by resetting the camera but can't fathom what it is I do to create the issue.

Any ideas?

Is it possible to extract the settings from the camera and post them here?

With AI Servo selected on the camera, go to the AF menu, select "VF display Illumination" Set enable to ON, press Q button, set "non illuminated" to OFF.

It's got nothing to do with the metering, it is just the illumination of the AF points. I must admit the settings are quite confusing.
