Very professional portrait.
The exposure and color balance are dead on.

The pose is a little serious for a young man, but that's OK - everyone should have a serious pose on file for serious business.

The lighting is impressive. The Rembrandt lighting is my favorite, and you have it here.

Very 3-dimensional showing all of the facial contours.

Congratulations!

The only thing I might add to Bob's post is to point out that the eyes are centered in the frame. Crop most everything above and to the left of his head and you will have a better shot, compositionally speaking.

Excellent shot mate: both of them. I was going to say that the first one would have looked better if you'd closed the aperture down one more stop to get a bit more of his face in focus, but the more I look, the more I like it as is.

There's too much space to the left of his face and above his head.

I would only crop the top and clip the head a little in the first shot not the left side (or maybe just a TAD!!!
Dont touch the second shot.

Peter.

That 85L gets the eyes right in all the photos we ever see. It does wonders for eyes.

So you're doing portraits without the 85L to give it a rest eh?
