I started using an original iPad (with cell service) and Filterstorm to file pictures.
It worked, but was a little flaky compared to the company issued laptop - It was much easier to carry though.
Moved onto an 11" MacBook air (2012 - that I am still using now, to type this)
light, portable and with enough speed to easily handle the needs of spot news - for sport where i had space to set up, I took the company issued 15" MacBook Pro.
I did try an Asus Vivotab Note8 but it was very slow - nice and easy to carry (fit in a big back pocket or jacket pocket) but it was way to difficult to quickly sort and file pics from, so I went back to the 11"MBA
A colleague was using a surface, and he raved about how good it was - but I prefer the mac OS.
