Please read carefully:

I am seeking a gently used 100-400mm for a planned trip to Brasil later this year. I recently bought a 400mm (fixed focal) but realized afterwards that for my needs I would be better off with the 100-400mm. Specifically what I will look for are one of the following 2 options:


  1. A 100-400mm Version 1 that is no more than 8 years old (so date code 2010 or later) and priced in the $700 range.
  2. Alternatively, if someone has a 100-400mm Version II priced at $1400 or less I would be interested.



I will pay cash using Paypal. However, in the event you are interested in the Canon 400mm I have I would certainly consider a trade package. Makes no difference to me.

I have a version 1 100-400L that I bought new from Best Buy in 5/2012. I can't find a date code on it, though. It is in excellent shape. I've only used for outdoor, daytime kids' athletics, and it will ship with everything as new: lens, caps, ring, hood, box, etc. Let me know if interested.

EDIT:
Looks like Canon started phasing out the old-style date codes in 2008.

I have a mint condition unit...just a couple years older than you stated.....

BUT....


In Jan was sent to Canon and had it opened up and cleaned and serviced.
The unit looks and works like new...literally !!!
The only signs of use is a slight tint where the arca swiss plate allowed dirt
to "dirty" the bottom of the foot....

Just lens and soft case
