Saw a big flock on a pond on my way to work this morning-easily over 100 birds, with more across the road and overhead. Had time to pull over for a couple quick shots. I love the variety we get with our migration, but it's over so soon!

I saw these photos and got very curious about the lumps on the bills as I thought it was some sort of disease. (the ones from down under don't have them). after a bit of googling I find out the "horns" are only there during mating season. Very interesting.

I've never seen one with 3 horns before...that guy must be livin' large :)

Thanks for the comments, the one with three "horns" is the first I've seen like that too. They came through in really big numbers for a week or two(I saw several hundred that day, all within a 10 mile area) and now are mostly gone. We do get a few that stick around the bigger lakes but not in the numbers I was seeing.
