Which route are you going with though? :)

I'm hoping they have success with the 28-75, and then sometime soon come out with something like a 300g 18-30 f2.8 or something to compliment my 55 1.8 and Batis 135.

Oh, I picked up a Nikon D750+24-120 f4 kit, instead. I figured don't NEED f2.8 in a zoom lens, in that focal length range.

Plus, I've had my eyes on that Nikon 28mm f1.4e ED lens for a while now. :-)

Well I had a package show up at the house today apparently... from adorama.

I completely forgot I pre-ordered this lens and it's sitting at home waiting for me to open it.

That sounds like a nice surprise. Hopefully yours won’t have any issues. Per Sony Alpha Rumors there should have been a firmware update for it a couple of weeks ago, but that didn’t seem to happen. Seems like a great lens once they get that AF issue worked out. Some people seem to have zero issues with it.

Enjoy!

I’m sure my wife will enjoy immensely. This is mostly her lens. Just need a body for her now to use it lol

Not sure what issues are suppose to be happening but this lens is spot on.

The balance is absolutely perfect it’s like the body was made for this lens. Super light for the range and the contrast is really good. Sharpness is impressive

Great to hear!

According to the youtubers the issue is that the camera simply completely refuses to focus until its turned off/on, or even in some cases the lens is removed/reattached.

Ya so far no issues here.

My initiation impression was kind of mixed then I looked at the files and have been impressed. The lens doesn't have that all metal pro build quality feel to it because it's plastic but has the same feel as a 35/2 IS or 50 1.8 STM type feel to it. I do have concerns that lens creep will occur over time but the travel isn't that long anyway maybe like 2.5" or so.

The colors are typical tamron, a shift toward warm but this lens has the best contrast I've seen from any tamron and I've had all the VC models.

What is even more impressive is the focusing is unbelievably silent... video focus is very smooth. I'm very happy over this and I'm pretty confident this lens is a keeper.

There IS distortion though. pronounced barrel at 28mm and opposite at 75mm... pretty heavy too imho. If your OK with correction then you should be fine. I'd rate it simliar to what I've seen from the sony 28/2. In camera fixes it though I guess but you'll lose a tad. I'd say after correction it'll be like 29-73mm but it's still a very nice lens.

Used market will be a great bargain... I suspect in 1 year you will be able to buy the lens on the used market for around 550 and for that price it'll be a steal.

I usually upload weekly or biweekly anymore. I'll get around to it.

Right now I am more concerned with "feel". The lens is absolutely awesome mounted to the R3. Weight, size, feel, everything is spot on. 28mm is plenty wide enough.

I will get more specific on IQ after I upload.

550 will be an absolute steal, and I think many folks will be happy with this lens.

Creep does concern me, and time will tell. It's certainly not stiff like previous tamron 24-70.

Distortion feels less than the FE 28 I think, that lens is pretty heavy handed.

Bokeh at 75 is not good when busy backgrounds are involved.

Finish of the product is poor, the seems..... lol what were they thinking, at least have it on the bottom so you cant see it.

Zoom on the back rather than front...... uggggg sony is opposite, and I made the mistake a few times now. Not a big issue as I intend to use this a lot and pretty much used to it now. Just an annoyance.

Vignetting is fairly strong.

aside from that...

close focus is really nice, you probably feel a very low need for a dedicated macro for travel.

Handling is a perfect match. Hard to stress how important this is, you cant pay me to use the 24-70GM, it's simply too big for my liking. The tamron is a perfect fit for a high performing 2.8 zoom.

AF is pretty darn fast, and seems usable in low light as well. No issues focusing at night outside while the kids were playing with fireworks. In my brief testing, seems as fast as the native FE 35 2.8 za lens.

IQ is darn usable everywhere. No it's not prime sharp (with the exception of the center).

that 67mm filter means that the barrel is fairly small, and goes a long way with handling, it fits nicely into the peak design sling 5L along with the 12-24, and even a vintage 200mm prime if needed. A very high quality kit that's reasonable in size and all fits into the peak 5L

anyhow, some basic samples from the tamron, video and photos, flaws and all.

Thanks for the pics. I'm debating on switching from my 24-105 to the Tamron but hard pressed in deciding whether the bump in aperture is worth the loss at both ends. Decisions, decisions :-)

I just got mine and I love it. Granted I switched from a Canon 15-85 so my opinion may be a bit skewed, but how can you beat it for 800?

No focus issue here. I installed the firmware update. Super easy to do
