I was at the end of the boarding line and it was the last seat. Apparently most people didn't want that beautiful old engine blocking their view, but I thought it was great.

A couple of the cockpit.

That plane goes on tour in normal times and you can purchase rides.

We got there early for the first flight of the day and I paid the extra $ for the co-pilot's seat. There were people behind me in line that asked if it was available.

Wow, proper clocks! ASI, altimeter, turn & slip, climb/dive rate, but no artificial horizon. They were all part of my trade and fascinating for me.

Great photos and they bring back a load of memories thank you, because until the 'haunted fish tank' displays came in they just didn't change. (Haunted fish tank = TV/video display)

My ambition for a good while is to grow old disgracefully. So far my wife tells me that I am doing really well!

I'm glad you enjoyed them. I don't really know much about flying, so I just thought the wooden Ford steering wheels were cool.

They really are great pictures! All that 1920's technology and then the Garmin 496 GPS tucked at the bottom of the panel just to bring it screaming into the 21st Century!

Thanks. It was a great experience. Hard to believe that was once modern air transportation.

Here's a shot from the City of Wichita side.

Great Tri-Motor photos, all! The cockpit photos with the wooden steering control was interesting, as a Tri-Motor cockpit photo my Dad took shows Bakelite wheels on the yoke arm ... a restoration choice, maybe?

Dad also got a chance in the right seat of NC8407 ... he told me this was his second ride in a Ford Tri-Motor, his first time was back in the late '30s!

A couple more that my dad took. My chance to ride in a Tri-Motor was dashed because of bad weather. Maybe some day ...
