Crickey !!! I'm glad I never had to change the HT loom on that thing! 28 cylinders = 48 plugs and the leads to them. I never liked doing the earth leakage checks on the RR Griffon 12 cylinder jobbies on the Shackletons, so sod that lot!

Ta for the gen on the 2 stroke Capn J. I hadn't realised that 2 stroke radials existed?

I had a look at some other photos of the tri plane and some showed the port side with the rudder closed linkage. I use it as much as possible on my RC gliders because it is so much more positive. Dead easy to install too.

My ambition for a good while is to grow old disgracefully. So far my wife tells me that I am doing really well!

Memorial Day fly-over of Lewis Air Legends aircraft - San Antonio, Texas
Gray skies, not the best shooting location, only 200mm non-IS reach ... I'll be glad when the aviation events & shows start up again.:-)

I like those 2, but I am surprised that you are allowed a camera on the airfield? I know that it was a BIG no no when I was in the mob, but that was just after biplanes went out of style and the Comet 2 was a bees-knees :rolleyes:

They now provide 'Official' viewing sites around the airfield especially at Conningsby where you have both the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the Typhoon Display practising although this year the Typhoon Display practices have been stopped. Still plenty of Typhoon movements to be seen.

Thanks, these were actually taken from outside the perimeter fence, I needed a small step stool to stand on in order to see over the top of the fence

Coningsby does offer quite a few view points and generally gives the impression of being photographer/spotter friendly.
