Is that to reduce the drag caused by the tail fins of the torpedo scraping on the runway on take off -?:eek:

In the Sauerland in Germany i saw a piece of land with several old plaines and rockets. i had no good camera with me. This picture was taken with an old camera.

You are right. I have a picture of it, but it is a bad picture. I had no camera with me. I took the picture with a movie cam. It is a stil with very low resolution and poor quatity.

In the foreground is the Aero L-29 Dolphin (NATO code name "Maya"), a military jet trainer that became the standard jet trainer of the Warsaw Pact states during the 1960s. It was the first jet aircraft designed and produced in Czechoslovakia. Production began in 1963 and lasted 11 years, with around 3,500 aircraft produced.

That's the one L96. They were called Widow Makers by the Germans I believe? It seems that because of the not so good maintaining of them they had a tendency to head for mother Earth and take the driver with them? A few of my mates in the R.A.F. were stationed in Germany and that's where they got the name and reason from?
