When I was posted to Singapore I spent some time on 81 PR Sqdn. They were flying Canberra PR7s and before that they had Mossie PR aircraft. They were the last operating sqdn in the R.A.F. to have them. They were also the last sqdn to have the PR7s as well

I would have loved the chance to work on the Mossies

Wings & Wheels - Kingsbury Aerodrome
Fokker DR.1

It looks like they put a real rotary engine in, rather than a radial. The engine is blurred, too.
If they used the original oil system, everyone abaft the engine smelled of castor oil.
Nice capture.

Thank you, Cap'n!
Yes, a Le Rhône 9c 80 hp rotary engine, same as over a century ago. I'll have to ask the museum staff about lubrication system mods when I return for next years Spring fly-in.

Lovely photo Mark.

What always fascinated me about the Lankybomber is the size of the bomb bay. They use a system called the 12/24 way bomb gear and it could be switched to drop patterns of bombs in mixed loads. That system was one that I had to learn in my training to become an aircraft electrician. I often wondered why, until I was posted to 205 Sqdn, R.A.F. Changi in 1966. They had Mk2 Phase 2 tail dragger Shackletons complete with 12/24 bomb gear.

A wet, windy morning here this morning and we've even had snow falling so a good morning to continue trawling through my pictures from our Member's Day back in September. I've been having a play with the new masking setup in Lightroom. This is the clipped wing Spitfire MKXVI TE311 of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Yup, those are about as good as they get.
