Vanished in 2015...

Copper Hill Images is no longer in the business of selling image sensor cleaning supplies. It appears that as of December 2015 someone else owns the domain name and the website currently contains generic "Photoshop Beauty Retouching" tips like "softening the skin", "removing blemishes", and the like. That's too bad. The company was a great supplier of useful sensor cleaning products at reasonable prices for a very long time. I miss them. Regardless, I have removed all of the outdated links from this article. I may update this article at some point in the future after I find a supplier of similar products that I like.

I started out using the “Copper Hill method” back around 2005. Now I use these:

They’re the same thing except they’re sized for specific sensor types, unlike the Copper Hill kit. They’re available in most decently stocked camera stores and online.

I have an orange cat and a brown cat. In HSL, they're both orange.

You can still get many of the supplies at places like Micro-tools (external link).

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I've started a penny pile. I'll let you know how it's progressing in the coming months.

I don't get it either.

An explanation would be helpful.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I took it to be a reference to a pile of copper...

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Yep, a small hill of copper I’m guessing. :-D

I, for one, quit using the method with pec pads, eclipse and all of that when the individual pre-moistened swabs came about. It was just so much easier to toss a couple of those in every bag since it takes up much less space. With so many other tools available now (disposable swabs, gel stick, arctic butterfly, etc) I’m sure the original Copper Hill method has got much less use as time has progressed.

Unless you have a lot of old pennies, you’ll have trouble with that.....
