I am jealous of that picture. I’ve been chasing bears all summer and haven’t gotten a decent shot yet.

Want to get kissing close, go to Katmai.
Viewing close, go to Bear Camp in Lake Clark NP.
Random super too close for comfort, go to the Chilkoot River in Haines.

Here's one that popped out of the weeds surprisingly close.

Great shots, especially the mom and cubs. There was a woman in our group who was headed to Lake Clark. I guess when you have all that way to go home Hudson Bay to Alaska isn't a big detour.

Cinnamon bears of California? Certainly remind me of bear encounters on the Rae Lakes Loop we backpacked
in Kings Canyon NP.
