American Bittern

I was able to watch this American Bittern catch a small pike and also observe it making its famous, booming call on several occasions. This was all at very close range and was certainly worth sitting on the cold, wet, mossy lawn for twenty minutes; pants and underwear dry eventually.

Thanks, Rog. This was taken from our property, across a channel out to the main lake. It's a great opportunity in that both the light and proximity were perfect.
