First Spiders of the Year

It SNOWED here in the last three weeks. The first leaves came out YESTERDAY.

I knew that as soon as the trees got leaves, te spiders couldn't be far behind.

Last night was cool and rainy, so I didn't expect any.

Today was warm. This evening was cool, but not as cool as yesterday and dry.

Sure enough, there were quite a few orb weavers hanging from the eaves of the garages.

First ones?! We see them all year due to the winter and warmth in the house! Lucky! Better than being in the Aussie!

I used to see quite a few spiders inside, but in recent years since there have been regular exterminator visits, I see a lot fewer spiders, centipedes, etc.

On the other hand, in warm weather I see tons of orb weaver and other spiders outside, as well as centipedes, millipedes, and pill bugs. These will not come out one SECOND before complete sunset.

While the weather was too bad for outside macro, I spent some time improving my outdoor flash rig.

I had hoped to replace the TTL cable connecting my Sigma EF500 DG Super flash to my camera with a wireless flash trigger system.

Unfortunately, I discovered that the Flashpoint R2 system which I bought was incompatible with the Sigma, and that there was no solution.

So, I replaced the Sigma with a Flashpoint R2. So far, I've been very happy with it.
