To my eyes the players seem to "pop" from the background. Is that due to the camera/lens,
or was something done in post?

thx, i think that normal post processing is part of it, but mainly it's a really sharp prime lens, that's shot at thin f/2.8 dof, in good light.

could u briefly explain to ur pp method?
