First time posting so I'm not sure if the embedding will be successful or not but I will eventually get it right. I've been out from work with work related injuries so I have lots of time to take bird pics from my garage driveway. Not sure what the species are for most of the birds I took pics of so some ID help will be very much appreciated.

@Wil in Tejas, @PhotosGuy, @Sibil, thanks for the warm welcome. I've been lurking here for awhile and seeing as if I've had the immense pleasure of viewing all of the forum members pics for some time now, I thought I'd give it a shot and share what I've been able gather up these past few weeks while I'm mending my own broken wing and busted up knee. It also gave me the chance to brush up on Photoshop techniques that have been neglected of late.

Only problem is I'm having to use "my other hand" to mouse with. ;)

Hello from Dorset, UK! What part of the world are you in? Definitely not my area, from the bird shots you've posted...

Great bird shots, a fine start.

Since this is an international forum, posters could be from anywhere. If you like, enter your location into your profile (unless it is secret).

To answer your question, I'll just say Aloha from Hawaii Trik. :)

I'm pretty sure all of the bird pics I posted are non-native species. Usual way of their getting a foothold in the ecosystem are that these birds were pets that got loose, found the environment to their liking and started colonizing. Better yet, I'll post up another visitor from who knows where that perched atop one of my neighbor's cypress trees which by the way are like magnets for birds looking for a nice nesting spot. I'll venture to say that 90% of the birds I post up will have nests in those "bird condominiums" planted in my neighbor's yard.

Thanks for the tip Archibald. I'll dig into my profile and see to it.

Great first post and welcome!

Not sure on the birds, but that first family is simply adorable :)

Thanks for the welcome Snydremark. Not often I get to take a family portrait of a gathering of pom poms with beaks and feet. ;)

Nobody seems to be identifying the birds, so I'll give it a whirl. I believe the first two are African Silverbills, yellow finch is a Saffron Finch from South America, the dark bird is a Red-Vented Bulbul from Asia, and the parrot is a female or immature Rose-Ringed (Ring-Necked) Parakeet from Asia and Africa.

Thanks for the ID Jim. It's much appreciated. So now when I'm asked I can put on a show and act like I'm some kind of expert "avian profiler". :D

And thank you evelakes and CaptBob for the encouraging words. I think I got a couple more pics that I'm not too embarrassed about posting. I think the ratio of good to bad shots that I take is like 50/1 and even then I gotta rely on a lot of luck and spend a lot of time in PS just to make 'um barely decent.

The wifey keeps reminding me that begging the birds to pose a certain way while I'm looking through the viewfinder doesn't work and makes her think about lawyering up for a divorce.

Couple more I took too much time editing (as usual)

This cardinal and mate (not shown) have been with us for about 5 years now. I haven't kept close track but I think this is her 12th or 13th clutch that she's brought to our back yard to show off as they've had on the average three broods per season starting from March all the way through November ranging from a single to four chicks per nesting. The pair will fly right into our garage and start loudly chirping to let us know it's time they got fed. (the nerve!)
