Feedback makes us better

Looking for feedback. These are my girls taken yesterday. I find it a bit challenging keeping Yvonne's hair from being blown out do to how blonde it is. I often try to under expose a bit then raise shadows, lower highlights.

First one taken a couple hours before sunset, in the shade and with flash at 1/4 power with a small soft box on the flash..

Second one they are facing South about 3hrs before sunset, no flash. Probably could have benefited using a flash.

Love the first one. Two happy-go-lucky young girls in a beautiful floral setting, what could be nicer?

The second one could have used that flash. Love the stepping on toes theme, it would have been nice if the older girl had a loving but "ouch" look on her face.

I agree the second shot would have been much better with flash.


Anything else I could have done differently on either shot? Both while shooting or processing?

On your first image a step or two to your right...............th​e sign, the sign...............it adds nothing......unless of course there was a bigger distraction to the left. Getting a shot from a low angle...............go​od thinking

I was thinking about how he managed to not let the branches be too distracting. I think moving might have made that worse than the sign.

Honestly I didn't notice the sign at first.

It is always hard keeping the girls patient and somewhat still. I shop probably remove the sign in post but the branches were something in was trying to position to not be a major issue. A few inches up might have laid the branches slightly better but not sure. My girls were in the spot for all of about 3 seconds so time was not on my side.
