I have a spot where I wired a branch onto an iron railing where Belted Kingfihers like to fish at low tide. Thankfully they prefer to land on the branch rather than the railing, usually, though there is one bird that launches from the branch, then lands on the iron railing once he has caught a fish. Only once in 3 years has someone torn down my branch.

Quite a set indeed. Very nice, Ian!

There is a bridge near my house that crosses over a spillway. There is a cable that spans the gap and just about every time it rains, the kingfishers will use that cable as a perch. I need to figure out how to hang a limb. Lol! :)

Thanks Phil. Yea for sure do the branch thing, ir leads to better shots! The other thing I do is drape a piece of camo mesh over the open driver's window of my truck, and hang my lens out under the draped mesh. That way I can sit within 30-40 feet of the branch and the kingfishers don't see me. The clicking of the camera doesn't seem to bother them.

OK, I knew you were doing something illegal to get these shots! Simply shocking!

Great series Ian, Glad to see the "fishers" are back and well.

Haha thanks John. Not illegal, just trying to outsmart a bird.

Excellent set Ian.

I need to get out and find some Kingfisher here.

We sometimes get the Green Variety.
