I have taken this lens out couple of times for walk through hills and once for jungle safari. Good light weight lens.

The lens at 300 - 400 mm focal lengths and vide open with short distances ( less than 10ft) has paper thin depth of field. Spoiled couple of pics due this. For photographing close up of flower size objects, one has to be really careful due thin depth of field even at f8. Also I did not get few pics sharp enough at shutter speed of 1/125 and 400mm. So now I am pushing up shutter to around 1/300 seconds. Learning curve.

First image 325mm, F6.3, 1/250, ISO 320
Second image 400mm, F6.3, 1/320, ISO 500

I got to try out this lens at a race recently, it is the first time I have been to a race track in 14 years so I was way out of practice shooting racing action.
The autofocus seemed to work well enough but I need to practice more to get the most out of this lens.

Nice to see some action on this thread, I found it in a box, in a corner in the back of the forum.

First photo was previously posted in the bird forum.
Nikon D500 Tamron 100-400mm @400mm 1/2500 ISO 1600. It was very windy so I used a really fast shutter speed.
