I scored a deal on A7iii that sounded very good, but not good to the extent that can't be true, on Greentoe, through Cardinal Camera in the 1st week of April 2018.

This was for my trip in end May.

Asked them for shipping info (e.g package weight, whether they can offer international shipping). Days passed. no reply.

Asked about tracking number. Weeks passed. no reply.

2 weeks later, Greentoe replied that my camera will definitely reach by end April.

Waited till end of Apr. Greentoe said unlikely to get by end of April, but definitely will reach by mid May.

Sent reminders in the meantime, radio silence again.

Today - 23rd May - they CLAIMED there is no stock available.

seriously. I just wasted 2 months of my time:
1. waiting for something that will never arrive
2. loss in FOREX fees due to the exchange rate spread

My advice: Don't BOTHER BUYING FROM GREENTOE/CARDINAL CAMERA. BUY DIRECT FROM SONY PLEASE!

I would go further and say that if you place an order for an in stock item anywhere and it doesn't ship within a week you should cancel your order immediately and if you don't receive a refund within 24 hours contact your CC company for a charge back.

I've ordered several times from GreenToe and never had any issues. That said, I would not pre-order or order a hot item such as the current a73. I have no doubt that it'll be hard to find. They shouldn't have said they could deliver one IMO.

Your problem is the 7iii is just sold out everywhere

I've purchased several items through Greentoe without a hitch. Sorry about your experience. My recollection is that some of them came from Cardinal.

some of the posts above likely came from Greentoe itself.

Lol.

Hey I didn't mean to belittle your bad experience with green toe, im not calling b.s.
I beleive you. And I get why you'd never want to use them again.

However , im just saying both my experiences have been 100 percent positive . And i saved $500 dollars on the a7r3 , and almost $200 on the sigma lens.
I've heard of multiple accounts of positive experienced with green toe from members on this forum(not including posts in this thread)

So i 110% recommend green toe to anyone who's looking to save money.

I've had a bad experience with adorama for example, but I've had atleast 15 maybe 20 positive experiences over the past years ..
Sh!t happens.. I used to work costumer service..human errors occur.. then you stall and do your best to fix it.

Yeah sucks for you and them that it was on your first order. (I assume it was your first order with greentoe?)

I keep using adorama even after they screwed up because that screw up came after many positive experiences so Its easier to say "sh!t happens"
Had it been my first experience, I might be acting like you

It's just as likely you're posting from a competing company trying to make them look bad. Just because you had a bad experience with them doesn't mean that anyone who didn't is a plant from that company.

Yeah, because no one ever had a good experience with GreenToe or is capable of having a different opinion than you...

If we're being completely honest here, you hold more responsibility than GreenToe in this particular situation. You placed an order for a hard to get item knowing you needed it for an upcoming trip. Yes, they promised to deliver - on time which they should not have in this situation. But, after a delay or two you still chose to use them. Your choice to wait it out. This went on for what... almost 2 months? So yeah, you have quite a bit of responsibility here Chief... If I needed something, especially for a trip, I would have actively perused an alternative means to acquiring it as a backup. You did not and now are spamming all the photography message boards you can about your bad experience.

Need it quick? Order it from Amazon* (if they have one in stock in this particular case)

* disclaimer: Before you say I do... I do NOT work for Amazon.

I don't think you should expect miracles from a third-party reverse auction site like greentoe if the item is in high demand and even sites like B&H is showing as back-ordered.

Retailers like B&H is probably has higher pre-sale numbers and have higher priority from Sony than small time sellers like cardinal camera.

Thank you for your understanding - yes, sadly, screw-ups are almost inevitable when humans are involved in the supply chain. But it sounds as though we made it right for you, and we appreciate you posting to let us know.

Thousands of happy customers with Greentoe, so ranting out of spite in all caps and advising others not to shop there is immature. They are essentially a broker, so your post lacks detail as to where the problem occurred. Once a vendor accepts your offer, Greentoe advises you of shipping, but it is up to the vendor to follow through. Greentoe has no control over items that are out of stock, so you’re leaving out a significant portion of the communication that must have transpired. As far as I know, you can cancel your order during any delay, or Greentoe will try to find you another vendor. If you were advised of a delay, you could have purchased anywhere else that had stock available. You did not lose any exchange fees assuming your purchase price has been refunded. Telling people to buy direct from Sony means you still have no clue.
